TREC GB and the International Riders would like to give a special mention and thanks to Wendy Packwood.
Wendy always had a keen interest in all sports, especially equestrianism. She rode until she was in her late 70’s, participating in TREC in the UK in its early days, until she was 76 years young.
When she could no longer compete she judged at many Trec events, her last judging outing, the BHS TREC championships near Banbury.
She could be recognised by the ever present wire haired Jack Russell terrier and more often than not the G&T in her hand.
When not riding she followed racing with a passion, played Bridge to county level, grew copious amounts of vegetables, on her two allotments and was delighted by nothing more than entertaining a cottage full of friends.
She died of Motor Neurone Disease on 18th August 2017 aged 82.
The photograph below was taken in 2003 on a riding holiday with her horse Chloe.
Wendy has kindly left a donation of £2500 this year, to the International Riders' fund for the Championships in Italy and a further £2500 for the International Young Riders when they compete abroad in 2019.
This year's donation will be used to fund nine of the rider uniforms, five of the red, white and blue team bridles and hayalge for the journey to Italy.
Thank you Wendy. Be assured your donation has been much appreciated and you will be long remembered in the world of TREC.
